Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has so far somehow successfully navigated the issue that is Ross Barton (Michael Parr), AKA her secret baby daddy in Emmerdale.

That might be because he’s biding his time for the birth, befriending Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb) in a bid to stay close to the family so that when he strikes, it will have the most impact. But for now, Charity is safe.

She’s safe from Ross but not from her own gob, which is the thing that gets her into her latest trouble.

As she plods on through the pregnancy, keeping her head down and avoiding baby scans, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) are getting more and more excited. So much so, that they plan a huge surprise for everyone.

Having shared that they’ll be hosting a gender reveal, they have secretly decided to turn it into their wedding.

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) is in on the surprise and helping Sarah arrange the event. Charity is oblivious, caught up in her own worries of what she’ll do once the sprog is born and looks nothing like its supposed mum and dad.

Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) knows Charity well and can sense her distress. She starts to dig at Charity, probing what’s wrong until Charity accidentally hints that the baby she’s carrying might not be Jacob and Sarah’s.

Of all the people to tell, Vanessa is not the one – Vanessa has previously made it very clear she will not keep secrets, even shopping her sister to the police when she was accused of murder and asked for an alibi.

So this is quite the pickle for Charity. Fearing that she’s ruined everything, she decides to make an excuse to avoid the gender reveal party, not realising the true purpose of the gathering. Her absence could spark a chain of events she doesn’t want – is the truth about to come out?

Sarah’s pleased to enlist Belle to help her and Jacob pull off a surprise. Under interrogation from Vanessa, Charity hints the baby she’s carrying might not be Jacob and Sarah’s before quickly backtracking.
