Head coach Aaron Glenn and the New York Jets benched quarterback Justin Fields following his Week 11, "Thursday Night Football" performance against the New England Patriots.
The team will now go with veteran signal caller Tyrod Taylor as they head into Sunday's Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Glenn informed the Jets of his quarterback decision in a meeting on Monday.
Fields started nine games for New York so far this season, leading the team to a disappointing 2-7 record as QB1. In those nine game appearances, the former Ohio State standout completed 62.7% of his pass attempts for 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 383 yards and four touchdowns, taking 27 sacks.
Fields briefly spoke for the first time since his benching on Friday.
"There's no reaction. That's life. [Expletive] happens," Fields said, via team insider Brian Costello of the New York Post.
