- Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is coming back for a fourth chapter
It's been a busy day of HBO announcements as five (!) of its TV shows have been renewed for additional seasons.
Revealed during a press presentation today (November 20), the Warner-owned TV network confirmed Task, The Chair Company, and I Love L.A were all getting second seasons.

There's no word on when the trio's sophomore outings will premiere on HBO and its streaming sibling HBO Max. However, HBO has outlined why it greenlit more installments for three of its new TV Originals for 2025.

Task, which stars Mark Ruffalo as an FBI agent *ahem* tasked with putting together a *double ahem* task force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by Tom Pelphrey's complicated family man, has had a debut season to remember. After premiering on one of the world's best streaming services in September, it's become one of the three fastest-growing shows – from a viewership standpoint – on HBO. With a 96% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes (RT) to boot, it was always a case of when, not if, Task season 2 would be greenlit.
Meanwhile, The Chair Company and I Love L.A, which HBO has labeled 'freshman comedies', are the first- and second-best performing genre shows in HBO history, with the pair averaging 3.3 million viewers and 2 million viewers per episode.
Co-created by Tim Robinson, the former follows Ron Trosper (Robinson), a recently-promoted project manager who becomes obsessed with a vast conspiracy surrounding – yep, you guessed it – a chair company. Meanwhile, I Love L.A, which was co-created by and stars Rachel Sennott, follows a group of Gen Z-ers as they navigate love and life in the sun-kissed US city.
Like Task, the duo have been hailed as some of this year's best HBO Max shows by critics, with The Chair Company commanding a perfect 100% RT rating and I Love L.A earning an 94% RT score from reviewers. However, while The Chair Company has also been well received by general audiences (73%), I Love L.A's 47% audience score suggests it didn't deserve another outing.

The aforementioned programs weren't the only shows developed in-house by HBO to earn another season.
At the same New York-based press briefing, HBO boss Casey Bloys confirmed he'd ordered a fourth season of House of the Dragon, which is slated to arrive sometime in 2028, and season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (AKotSK), which will air in 2027.
But wait, there's more. Bloys also revealed House of the Dragon season 3 will premiere in mid-2026, so we don't have much longer to wait for HBO's first Game of Thrones prequel to be back on our screens.

Indeed, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 will launch on January 18/19, depending on where you live, so the countdown is well and truly on for its arrival.
