After checking into his hotel room, a horrified guest soon noticed an unusual detail about the window—now the unpleasant discovery has gone viral on social media.

In a viral Reddit post shared on Monday under the username u/Maybs3923, the poster shares a picture of the fogged-up window, revealing none other than a pair of footprints right up there in the middle of the glass. "My hotel window fogged up revealing these footprints halfway up the window," the poster wrote in the caption.

The post quickly went viral on social media, and it has so far received over 30,000 upvotes and almost 900 comments on the platform.

One user, Lyndsaysmith61, commented: "Someone was being freaky the night before."

True-Newt-301 said: "Spiderman was here."

"Are those prints on the inside or the outside? That’s the real question," posted Basic-Ostrich85.

TheTrueLodge added: "That happened to me and it was butt cheeks. I had the windows cleaned the next morning."

While it is usually standard policy for hotels to change sheets between guests, as well as pillowcases and duvets, a deep cleaning of the windows is not as frequent.

Window cleaning experts Clear View say that hotels, as well as restaurants, should aim to get their windows cleaned at least once a month.

The location of the hotel also matters. Those in busy environments such as big cities can get dirty quite easily due to pollution, traffic exhaust, and bird droppings that can accumulate faster than in suburban areas.

A clean hotel isn’t just safer for guests, but it also affects their likeliness to return. A survey carried out in June shows the 75 percent of guests say they are more likely to return to a hotel with high hygiene standards.

Moreover, about 86 percent of guests even cite hygiene as the most-important factor for their satisfaction and repeat visits.

A clean, inviting work environment also boosts employee morale. When staff feel at ease and valued, they naturally deliver stronger performance and show more enthusiasm in attending to guests.
