Outgoing Bayada CEO said leading the company is "the best job in healthcare" and Winn is "the right person for it.”

Bayada Home Health Care appointed a new chief executive officer this week, the company said in a press release.

Bryony Winn will be the first CEO outside of the founding Baiada family to run the home health, personal home care and hospice service. She will join the company on March 2, 2026.

Winn wrote in a LinkedIn post that she’s never come across a company more aligned with her worldview than Bayada.

“The more I learned about its values, philosophy, history, people, and the extraordinary impact it has on health–across the country and around the world–the more I knew it was the right place for me,” she said. “I’m truly honored to be joining Bayada as its next CEO.”

Why It Matters

Bayada has been serving patients for 50 years across the U.S., India, Ireland, New Zealand and South Korea. It has been a family-run company since its founding, providing a full range of personalized nursing, rehabilitative, therapeutic, hospice and personal care services.

“When we began the search for our next CEO, we wanted a leader who would help shape the next 100 years of Bayada– someone who truly gets what makes Bayada special, with a passion for making the health system work better and a track record of doing so,” Mark Baiada, the founder and chairman of Bayada, said in a statement. “Bryony is that leader.”

What To Know

David Baiada, who has served as CEO for eight years, will join Bayada’s Board of Directors and serve as a senior adviser to Winn. In a statement, he said Winn “believes that health is deeply personal, and that caring for others – often when they need it most – is a privilege.”

“That is the essence of Bayada, why it is an honor to serve as CEO,” he said. “Simply put, it’s the best job in health care, and she’s the right person for it.”

Bayada has been ranked as one of the greatest workplaces in health care, as well as one of the greatest workplaces for diversity, women and mental well-being. With the appointment of Winn as CEO, the company is helping build the pipeline for women to take on leadership positions in health care.

In 2024, David Baiada spoke with Newsweek about how creating a flexible workplace helps retain employees, especially women. Bayada President and COO Heather Hell also told Newsweek that women’s strong interpersonal skills make them an asset in the health care industry.

"[Women] really want to make a difference in the community and in health care," she said. "The work that we're doing every day, you're literally changing lives. And that feels pretty good at the end of the day. It may seem like a small thing to you but for that family in that moment, on that day, you made it special for them. You were there when they were in a really tough moment and that's really rewarding."

Winn currently serves as the president of Carelon Health, an integrated health care service under Elevance Health, where she les more than 8.500 associates serving nearly 100 million Americans in all 50 states. She has worked under Elevance Health since June 2020, serving as a chief strategy officer and president of health solutions.

Before Elevance, Winn was the senior vice president and chief strategy and innovation officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina and a partner at McKinsey.

She has also held positions on several boards, including Mosaic Health, United Women’s Healthcare and Apree Health.

“Leading an organization like BAYADA is the opportunity of a lifetime,” Winn said in a statement. “It’s a special organization that makes a real, tangible impact on people and health worldwide. I can’t wait to get started.”

What People Are Saying

Teresa Carroll, the chair of the Bayada Board Succession Committee, said in a statement: “Throughout this search, we saw strong interest from a significant number of highly qualified candidates. Repeatedly, we heard from candidates that Bayada is special, a caregiving organization like no other. With Bryony’s leadership, we’re ready to build on that.”

Newsweek reached out to Bayada for comment.
