There has been a sharp rise in homeowners searching Google for estate agents, as sellers’ confidence returns and they prepare to enter the market, according to Adam Day (pictured), Head of EXP UK and Europe.

The estate agency analysed Google Trends data between 1 January 2025 and 31 January 2026 and found searches for “Estate Agent” are up 12.3% year-on-year, suggesting there is an increasing number of people looking to appoint an estate agent in the UK. Searches for “Best Estate Agent” have also risen and were up by as much as 37.5% over the same period.

Day says: “We are seeing a strong return of seller confidence as we move through the early stages of 2026. Increased market stability, more predictable pricing conditions, and renewed buyer intent are giving homeowners the reassurance they need to make their move.

The UK’s market is becoming increasingly busy, with heightened levels of engagement from sellers and buyers alike, many of whom had previously taken a wait-and-see approach.”

“The UK’s market is becoming increasingly busy, with heightened levels of engagement from sellers and buyers alike, many of whom had previously taken a wait-and-see approach.

“We are now seeing improving economic conditions, supported by steady if unremarkable growth, which is encouraging many people to act on previously delayed decisions and make their move before competition intensifies further.

“It’s particularly encouraging to see such a sharp rise in searches for ‘best estate agent’, which tells us that sellers aren’t just entering the market; they’re being more selective about who they choose to represent them.”
