You can stop searching – I've found your best first drone for a record-low price, and that's the DJI Mini 4K for $239 (was $299) at Amazon. That's for the basic bundle, for which there's an equally great deal in the UK – the Mini 4K for just £215 at Amazon (was £269). Considering the Mini 4K was already the best value option for most beginners, these Black Friday prices are hard to resist.

And I should know – I bought the Mini 4K myself when it came out in April 2024, before awarding it 4.5 stars in my review. It's a fabulous 4K drone, with a lightweight body and a host of easy flight moves to elevate the quality of your aerial shots in quick time. I've since moved onto pricier drones such as the Mini 5 Pro, but trust me the Mini 4K is an excellent starter kit.

If you like the idea of a carry case and additional batteries (which are supremely helpful), then you'll want to consider the next deal below. This current Black Friday price matches the record-low, and I'd be surprised if it falls any lower.

Should I buy the DJI Mini 4K?

In my book the Mini 4K makes the most sense for most people who've never flown a drone before – you won't find better price to performance elsewhere.

Top features include the 3-axis gimbal camera, sharp 4K video recording, a host of dynamic QuikShots flight moves, and sturdy level 5 wind resistance.

Sure, the Neo is even cheaper and lighter than the Mini 4K (while the newer Neo 2 is around the same price), but that drone is more casual and selfie-focused. Or you could splash out more for the Mini 5 Pro to get object sensing (a supremely helpful feature) and DJI's D-Log M color profile among other upgrades, but that's quite the leap in price.

No, for me, the Mini 4K is the best beginner drone overall, especially now that it's available for the lowest-ever price.

Recently supplanted by the Neo 2, the Neo is still a top pick, especially at this new low price. In fact it's DJI lightest (135g) and cheapest drone that shoots 4K video, complete with clever subject tracking skills and propellor guards for safe flight. It can even fly with no controller (controlled by voice), with a controller, or as FPV with goggles – though those are pricier packages. Yes, the Neo is heaps of fun and now 20% off in this no-brainer deal. There are also deals for two Fly More Combos; a three battery and charging hub bundle for $229 (was $289) or one with all of that plus the (screen-less) RC-N3 controller for $279 (was $349).

The Mini 4 Pro was supplanted by the new Mini 5 Pro recently, but it is still available and it's so much cheaper now in this deal (the previous low was £759). Like the Mini 4K, it's restriction-free sub 250g drone. I've highlighted the deal for the Fly More Combo because I think you get the most out of this drone with two additional batteries and charging case in this bundle. If you don't need the extras, the lowest price standard bundle is also on sale for £519, via the same Amazon link.
