A loss for the Trojans would likely end their playoff hopes, while an Oregon defeat would shake up the race and could put the Ducks on the outside looking in.
Under head coach Dan Lanning, Oregon has been rebuilt and now has a clear identity. He’s crafted a team that plays fast but can also adapt to a Big Ten–style physical game, as demonstrated in their matchup against Iowa
Despite that success, Lanning remains one of the most sought-after coaches in the game, both at the collegiate and professional levels. There have been persistent rumors about a potential NFL move, but this time around, those whispers have quieted—and for good reason.
Lanning loves Oregon. On ESPN's "College GameDay," he made it very clear that this is where he wants to be for the rest of his career.
"I love this place. You gotta be able to appreciate what you have. I appreciate what I have here so much. This will be my spot. This is where I'm at forever."

Dan Lanning spent time on the Alabama Crimson Tide staff under the legendary Nick Saban and also served as defensive coordinator on Kirby Smart's Georgia staff, surrounding himself with some of the all-time greats. At just 39 years old, he’s already amassed an impressive coaching résumé.
He accepted the Oregon head coaching role in 2021, and it’s proven to be a seamless fit. Last year, the Ducks transitioned to the Big Ten, and Lanning led them to an undefeated regular season and a Big Ten Championship victory over Penn State, securing the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.
...The Ducks are set to kick off against USC at 3:30 p.m. EST on CBS. Oregon is currently listed as a 10.5-point favorite, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Oregon will wrap up their regular season next week against the Washington Huskies, while USC will close out theirs with a rivalry matchup against the UCLA Bruins.
