By Andrew RavensShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThroughout 2025, AEW and Tony Khan have earned considerable praise from wrestling fans and many industry insiders for the continued growth of the women’s division. This creative focus has helped stars like “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone establish themselves as two of the biggest names in all of professional wrestling. They are now backed by a roster of gifted athletes, including Willow Nightingale, Jamie Hayter, Thekla, and Megan Bayne, who are capable of holding World Championship gold.
Then there are successful AEW originals like Anna Jay, who have diligently continued to improve and grow during their tenure. These consistent performers have worked hard to turn themselves into valuable assets for the division. Jay originally signed with the company back in 2019.
She appeared early on as part of The Dark Order and later found success teaming with Tay Melo (TayJay). After that partnership ended, the two eventually went their separate ways, and Jay joined the heel stable, the Jericho Appreciation Society. However, the duo known as TayJay reunited in mid-2025.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Anna Jay’s contract is set to expire in the near future. The specific expiration date is expected within the “next few months”.

...There is no current information on whether contract negotiations have begun between the two parties. However, the general belief is that AEW would certainly like the talented star to remain with the company. Jay herself is reportedly open to exploring potential free agency offers, a decision that would be right for her career at this time.
More recently, Jay has continued to team with Tay Melo in the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament. However, the team fell unexpectedly short in the first round of the competition. Despite their extensive experience as a tag team, they fell to the makeshift duo of Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne.
This surprising early exit from the popular team may be connected to Anna Jay’s expiring contract status. Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne will now advance to the semi-finals. They will face “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa, now officially known as the Timeless Love Bombs.
In the other semi-final bracket, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron (The Babes of Wrath) will meet the heel team known as the Sisters of Sin, Julia Hart and Skye Blue. Before these two semi-final matches take place, all four teams will clash in a four-way tag match at Full Gear on Saturday, November 22. The winning team of this high-stakes contest will earn the coveted right to choose the stipulation for their respective semi-final match.
The main event of Full Gear is headlined by a major title defense for the promotion. AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander will defend her title against the former champion, Mercedes Mone. Mone is looking to add the World Championship to her long list of gold as she challenges the reigning champion.
