Chris Paul's legendary NBA career is coming to an end at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, according to multiple sources.
On Saturday morning, the 40-year-old point guard hinted at his upcoming retirement with a post on social media.
"What a ride...Still so much left...GRATEFUL for this last one!!" Paul wrote on X.
Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers traveled to North Carolina — Paul's home state — for a matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday afternoon. The 12-time NBA All-Star finished the Clippers' 131-116 victory with three points, eight assists and four rebounds through 23 minutes of action.
"Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul is retiring after this season – his 21st campaign in the NBA. Paul is a 12-time All-Star, an 11-time member of All-NBA teams, a selection to the 75 greatest players list, nine-time All-Defense and the 2006 Rookie of the Year," ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported on Saturday.

Paul's longtime NBA colleague/friend, LeBron James, took to social media to react to this retirement news.

Including the ongoing NBA season, Paul and James have 21 seasons of overlap in the league. James famously joined the NBA ranks as the Cleveland Cavaliers' No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 draft, and Paul joined the league as the New Orleans Hornets' No. 4 overall pick in the 2005 draft.
Paul and James won two Olympic gold medals together for Team USA, winning in 2008 and 2012. They are the only two players in NBA history to eclipse both 20,000 career points and 10,000 career assists.
...Paul's Clippers and James' Lakers will face off against each other in an NBA Cup group-play matchup at Crypto.com Arena this coming Tuesday.
