Ohio State easily dispatched Rutgers on Saturday afternoon in a 42-9 romp that allows the team to put its full focus on next weekend's massive rivalry game against Michigan.
“They're always in the back of our mind in terms of what we’re working toward, we know this is the last game of the year and what it means to everybody here,” head coach Ryan Day said of the Wolverines. “It was a good look in everyone's eye in the locker room. We just need to focus on what really matters.”
One major question heading into that game is the health of star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, who missed the game against the Scarlet Knights.

“Not having both Carnell and Jeremiah allowed us to focus on the job even more. Our guys have been pretty consistent that way, but next week we have to be at our best,” Day said. The head coach listed both players as "day-to-day" heading into the Michigan game.
After the big win, Smith took to social media with a message. "God is in charge," the star wide receiver said in his first message on X in two weeks.

Smith is arguably the best wide receiver in college football and one of the best wide receiver prospects in recent memory - even though he's not draft eligible until the 2027 NFL draft. He's racked up 69 receptions for 902 yards and 10 touchdowns, all of which lead Ohio State.
