...Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning addressed the SEC teams' schedule after his squad beat the USC Trojans in Eugene.
Oregon is in the driver's seat to get into the postseason after beating No. 15 USC. The Big Ten clash was essentially an elimination game that would take a team out of playoff contention and help another team along.

While the Ducks were battling with their bitter rival, several playoff-bound SEC teams were facing FCS competition, a significant drop in quality.
...The Texas A&M Aggies played the Samford Bulldogs, who are 1-11 on the season, in a game that was over in the first quarter, and it ended 48-0. The Aggies are ranked No. 3 in the nation.
No. 10 Alabama faced the Eastern Illinois Panthers, who are 3-9 on the season, beating the FCS team 56-0 in another dominant performance from an SEC playoff team.
The Georgia Bulldogs faced the 1-10 Charlotte team, beating them 35-3 in a comfortable win.

After Lanning's marquee win against the Trojans, he took time during his post-game press conference to address the soft scheduling that some SEC teams benefited from.
“We just played a really good team and we beat them,” Lanning said when talking to the media.
“A lot of times we play really good teams that become unranked all of a sudden and that’s not our fault. Maybe it is our fault, but all we’re worried about is playing the teams we play and doing the job we need to do. We did that job today, and I think that the proof is in the pudding. We played a good team and we beat them.”
“All we can do next week is try and do the same thing. This conference is a really good conference. It’s competitive. We didn’t play Chattanooga State today, like some other places. We competed, so with that being said, it’s tough playing nine conference games. It’s tough playing in this league and we got to take advantage of playing a good team today and attacking that.”
Oregon will likely face either the Bulldogs, Aggies, or Crimson Tide at some point in the playoffs, and Lanning had better hope he did not provide those teams with bulletin board material ahead of their matchups.
