Tori Harley (@itstoriharley) posted a clip on TikTok cradling and feeding her 16-week-old daughter when her dog, Teddy, bounds in with a very different agenda.
He whips his favorite toy cheetah through the air, rolls across the carpet and slams the toy on the ground, desperate to get his owner involved too.
...“While I am trying to be quiet to not wake the baby, he insists that now is the perfect time to sling his favorite toy around and try and get me to throw it,” Harley, 23, told Newsweek. “I interact with him when I can while also enjoying seeing him go crazy—he does this every nap.”
Harley once assumed Teddy’s antics were a “one time thing” but instead, they quickly turned into a pattern in which bedtime signaled the start of his personal play hour. In her viral TikTok clip, Teddy was playing nonstop for 10 minutes, according to the mom.
“It’s so funny and entertaining,” she said. “I love having him around for her naps.”
Remarkably, the smallest member of the household seems entirely unfazed. Harley's daughter has grown so accustomed to Teddy’s nap-time theatrics that she sleeps right through them.
“My daughter is so used to his shenanigans,” Harley said. “I’m honestly surprised he doesn’t keep her up, but she’s such a heavy sleeper that it works out perfectly for the both of them.”
Harley’s clip has gone viral on TikTok, amassing over 149,000 views. Dozens of parents and pet owners who experience the same whirlwind dynamic.
“My golden always brings me her ball in this exact moment as if my hands aren’t full!” one user wrote.
“At least he’s being quiet. Mine would be squeaking the loudest toy she has,” added another.
A third commented, “This is such golden retriever energy.”
Harley wasn’t expecting to hear similar stories of golden retrievers giving main character energy during naptime.
“Everyone has fallen in love with [Teddy],” she said. “Every video that I posted of him doing this is filled with so much positivity and joy. I am happy I can spread happiness to other others over something that is so normal for me now.”
