Charlie Stubbs’ death was revisited (Picture: ITV/REX)
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Coronation Street has had several murders in recent history, but in tonight’s episode we were reminded of one from many years ago.
Having just moved onto the cobbles, the Driscolls are still, of course, catching up on local gossip, and Maggie (Pauline McLynn) was keen to let grandson Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) in on a grisly true crime tale.
When Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) asked Ollie to watch her drink on the bar while she nipped to the loo, Maggie delighted in pointing out that she had previously killed a man.
Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) filled in the finer details, explaining that she’d killed her boyfriend with a blunt object.
Long-time Corrie viewers will recall that Tracy murdered Charlie Stubbs in 2007, after uncovering his affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).

She lulled him into a false sense of security with a sexy dance, before grabbing a nearby statue and battering him to death with it.
While Maggie speculated that Tracy’s murder victim may have deserved what he got, Ollie wondered why she wasn’t in prison.
Though Eva didn’t have the answer, viewers will know that Tracy managed to get her life sentence overturned when she discovered that one of the forensics officers working on Charlie’s case had been dodgy.
Maggie received raised eyebrows from Eva when she admitted that she quite liked Tracy – and that could be because they have more in common than anyone realises…
Maggie Driscoll is also reportedly a killer… (Picture: ITV)
It has been reported that Maggie herself is actually a killer, with her previous crime set to be revealed in a special upcoming episode.
‘When viewers see whose death Maggie was behind, it will really send shockwaves through Weatherfield and life will never quite be the same again for her,’ said a source.
‘The killing happened prior to her moving into the Rovers Return with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, and none of them will be aware of it.
The insider continued to The Sun: ‘But it will all come out in a bombshell storyline leading up to the festive season.’
Fans picked up on Maggie’s reaction to Eva Price and Adam Barlow (Picture: ITV)
Fans have already begun to speculate about whose death Maggie was responsible for, with many suggesting that it could have been Adam Barlow’s (Sam Robertson) mum Susan.
