By Matthew CoudenShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberCleveland Browns star Myles Garrett reacted to what he felt was some unnecessary trash-talking that occurred during his team’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. According to Garrett, it was "demeaning and disparaging" from 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings towards some of the Browns players.
The heated incident happened at a moment when defensive tackle Maliek Collins went down with an injury, and San Francisco's Jennings began chirping at Browns players. Collins was carted off the field, unable to participate in the rest of his team's game.
In post-game remarks, Garrett said he didn't appreciate it and intervened to "separate everybody" before things escalated further.
He also had a strong message for Jennings and his team about the trash-talking incident, including the need to remain focused on winning the game and not get caught up in that other drama on the field.

"Well, I can’t speak for how he was raised, but if you have nothing good to say, don’t say something to somebody," Garrett said regarding Jennings.
...“He had a lot to say that was demeaning and disparaging toward some of our players. I was just trying to separate everybody, and I tried to go up and ask what the problem was, and he started coming at me,” Garrett told reporters at a postgame press conference.
The Browns star said, "Some guys just roll like that," and suggested it doesn't belong in the game, but he and the Browns remain "focused on the field."

When asked about seeing his teammate Collins go down with an injury, Garret said he's been "amazing" this season and "it sucks seeing him go down" when he was on a trajectory for his first-ever double-digit sack season. He said he and his teammates planned to support him however they could going forward with his situation.
Collins has been in the league since 2016, playing seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and San Francisco 49ers. He signed with Cleveland in March. This season, he’d tallied 24 total tackles and 6.5 sacks for the Browns, along with a fumble recovery.
Sunday's 26-8 loss to San Francisco dropped the Browns to 3-9 and left them last in the AFC North. They'll get a shot to bounce back next Sunday when they play the 1-11 Tennessee Titans, who were officially eliminated from the playoffs due to their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
