New Edwin Díaz Report Great News For Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have some money to spend and it's certainly possible that some of it could end up being used on a high-leverage reliever.

Toronto reportedly showed interest in reliever Raisel Iglesias before he ended up signing with the Atlanta Braves. It was reported earlier in the offseason that the Blue Jays also reportedly met with All-Star closer Edwin Díaz's representation as well.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that Toronto has been "emerging as an attractive choice" for the flamethrower as well.

"While the deep-pocketed (Los Angeles Dodgers) don't appear anxious to commit the dollars to lure Díaz (they've been linked to another New York reliever, Devin Williams, and lesser lights), the Jays are emerging as an attractive choice,” Heymand wrote. “The AL champions are expected to spend big and aren't believed to be opposed to moving fine reliever Jeff Hoffman into a setup role after he allowed 15 regular-season homers plus, notably, the historic 16th home run to Miguel Rojas that swung Game 7 of the best World Series in decades."

If you're a Blue Jays fan, this is the type of news you should be all over. If the Blue Jays want late-game help, there may not be a better option than Díaz. He's as automatic as they come.
