By Evan MasseyShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Kansas City Chiefs and superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes are gearing up for an incredibly important game in Week 12 NFL action. They will play host to one of the best teams in the NFL by record, the Indianapolis Colts.
Over the years, the Chiefs have had a lot of trouble with the Colts during the regular season. In fact, Mahomes has yet to beat Indianapolis during a regular season game. Kansas City is hoping to change that trend this year.
After losing to the Denver Broncos last week, the Chiefs hold a 5-5 record. If the season were to end today, they would miss the playoffs. Obviously, this is a big-time game as they look to get back into the playoff hunt.

With that being said, Mahomes spoke out about some of the offensive struggles that Kansas City has had. He did not hold back on himself and the way he has played this season.
...Mahomes got brutally honest about his own mistakes. He placed some of the blame on himself for the lack of plays being made offensively.
“Yeah, I’m just not making the throws,” Mahomes said. “It’s pretty much the biggest thing. Guys are getting open and giving me chances to make the plays down the field and I just gotta give them chances to make plays. And I mean, if you look at the one to Tyquan later in the game, it wasn’t necessarily the best-thrown ball, but it gave him a chance.”
While the offense has had its struggles, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy remains very confident in his team.
“I will make it loud and clear: There’s no other people or players around that I would rather be around to go do this thing the right way,” Nagy said. “And we understand where we stand, and we got to do it. It’s like everybody said, you can’t talk; you got to do it. That’s our mindset. We can only go 1-0 this weekend, that’s it.”
So far this season, Mahomes has played in 10 games. He has completed 64.5 percent of his pass attempts for 2,625 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also running for 288 yards and four more scores. His completion percentage is at its lowest mark since his rookie season.

There are obvious reasons to be concerned about the Chiefs. However, with Mahomes leading the way, they will always be a factor.
Kansas City will kick off against the Colts at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon. A loss and dropping to 5-6 would be a devastating blow to the Chiefs' playoff chances. It will be interesting to see if Mahomes and the team can figure things out and get back in the win column this week.
